When it comes to reducing emissions, the saying “you can’t manage what you don’t measure” couldn’t be truer. Understanding your business emissions is an essential first step towards reducing them. Trouble is, it’s tricky to know where to start.

The good news is there’s a lot of great information available, and companies that can provide advice or even take care of it all for you.

If you want to have a go yourself, check out the Ministry for the Environment’s Quick Guide to Measuring Emissions which gives you an overview of how to produce an inventory and what data you’ll need to work out the emissions from your activities. If you want to delve deeper, check out their detailed Guide. They’ve also got a lot of valuable information on their website on how to self-report your greenhouse gas emissions, and some useful tools to make the process easier.

If you’d rather leave it to the experts, or would like some additional support, drop me an email. I’d be happy to have a chat and point you in the right direction.
